Kristy Coote of Newcastle, New South Wales, and recently of Torquay, Victoria, Australia is a singer/songwriter and proud to claim ownership of a career spanning more than a decade.

From an early age Kristy was influenced by music and by some of the greats like, Ingrid Michaelson, Elvis, Alanis Morrissett and Sheryl Crow. Kristy’s acoustic, rootsy brand of pop music has evolved through working with some of the best in the industry including Graham (buzz) Bidstrup (GanGajang), Clive Young, Rick Price and Anthony Snape.

“I’ve travelled all over the world from Africa to Asia to the UK, Europe and the States plus have learnt to love different cultures and appreciate everyone and everything as we are all different.” - Kristy Coote.

After months in the United States writing and recording in Nashville at Mike Flanders studio and New York with  5 time Grammy award winner, music producer, Gordon 'commissioner' Williams (Alicia Keys, Lauryn Hill, Amy Winehouse, Joss Stone), Kristy returned to Australian soil in 2016 for the release of her new album, 'Favourite Thing'. Kristy has graced stages across Australia with GangaJang, Tyrone Noonan (George) and Jason Singh (Taxiride).

Kristy's music has received international acclaim, with her song 'Pretending' chosen as a Finalist in the 2016 and 2017 International Songwriting Competition, and she was also a Finalist in the Australian Independent Music Awards - also for  'Pretending' and her song 'Calling All Our Guardian Angels'.

The 'Favourite Thing' single received a lot of press and radio play in the USA and on home soil in Oz. Kristy has had international success with songs 'I’m not that girl', reaching number one on the Ison Live Radio International Network - 'the Australian Real Underground Music Show', and 'Free Wind' also reaching international success. She also had hits on John Butler, Paul Kelly and Ash Grunwald, 'Home Grown Roots III' compilation with 'Chocolate Days' and 'Calling All You Wanted Angels'.

Kristy's acoustic rootsy brand of pop music has taken her on a journey resulting in her songs being heard across US and Australian radio stations.

In 2016, Kristy completed a life experience adventure with Gavin Morris (NBN Television). They successfully climbed and paraglided off Mount Kilimanjaro, making them the first ever Australian tandem team to paraglide off the highest free standing mountain in the world!!! This was in support of her favourite charity 'Wings of Kilimanjaro' to raise much needed funds for the Tanzanian people who are in desperate need of clean water and education. Something we take for granted over here in our lucky country. This is happening again in September, 2019. Please check out her new music video 'Superpower' edited by Jamie Condon on the Home and Charity page.
