Kristy Coote is an accomplished singer-songwriter with a vibrant musical career spanning more than two decades. Her work has earned international recognition, including finalist placements in the International Songwriting Competition for her song 'Pretending' as well as finalist honours at the Australian Independent Music Awards for
'Pretending and Calling All Our Guardian Angels'.
 
Kristy co-wrote and recorded her album 'Favourite Thing' in Nashville following an east coast
Australian tour.
Alongside ongoing songwriting, she performed at corporate events, weddings and international
cruise engagements, and has appeared in musical theatre, including the production 'We Will Rock You'.
 
Based on Victoria’s Surf Coast since 2018, Kristy balances her performing career with a deep commitment to community and creative development. A passionate advocate for emerging artists, she has become a driving force within the local arts scene. In 2021, she founded the Surf Coast Open Mic and established Koodles for Kids, a vocal studio dedicated to nurturing young performers.
Kristy also partnered with Kindred Studios in Yarraville to create the 'Surf Coast to the City - Youth Songwriting Mentor Program', a three-day intensive program designed to support and inspire young songwriters. The program was successfully supported through a Music Works grant and has further strengthened creative pathways for youth across regional Victoria.
 
As an active committee member of Surf Coast Arts, Kristy continues to champion inclusive opportunities and contribute to a thriving, diverse and connected creative community. She lives in Torquay with her husband Rod, their blended family, and their energetic Labrador, Archie.
